“In the summer when the regattas are out,
it’s just breathtaking”
There may be blocks in New Orleans’ French Quarter that have less balcony than this Grosse Pointe Shores house.
It stretches the length of the wide second story, 85 feet, with a panoramic view of Lake St. Clair. That means Great Lakes freighters, red sunrises, white swans and the summer sailboat races.
“In the summer when the regattas are out, it’s just breathtaking,” said co-owner Veronica Gray.
But that’s just half of what’s to envy here. Last summer, Ken and Veronica Gray reconfigured, remodeled or renovated every square foot until it flows and shows like a new model home. The only parts unchanged, they say, are three fireplaces.
Beyond those, every surface is new. They cut door openings taller and wider or tore walls out altogether. So rooms that used to feel closed off now flow and have a lake view.
